“I find myself aching, longing for it. This half imagined childhood...Even though I know some of the memories aren’t real. It’s like I’ve hooked up to some bigger, general picture, and it feels so real I can taste it.” (Mary, Act 1)

Three sisters are brought together by the death of their mother. Preparing for the funeral the siblings laugh, cry and bicker over past events and half-recalled memories.

Peppered with comedy, wit and laugh-out-loud moments, this clever, beautifully-observed and written play is more than the sum of its parts. It will strike a chord in all audience members as the layers of family tensions and relationships are stripped away and what is truly important and valuable in life is laid bare.

This is a play that will move you, make you laugh and make you cry, but at the end no one will be in any doubt as to why it won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy in 2000.

Directed in-the-round by Next Stage’s Artistic Director, Ann Ellison BEM, this is one not to be missed!
