This masterpiece of the 20th century written by Peter Nichols is a haunting, autobiographical play. It explores the ways in which a young married couple cope with their 10 year old, severely brain-damaged child.
Whilst clearly loving their daughter “Joe Egg”, Bri and Sheila’s relationship is put under unbearable strains by the day-to-day efforts of caring for her. Resorting to jokes and knock-about humour to try and disguise their pain simply makes their anguish all the more poignant.
A powerful play presented in-the-round by this award-winning theatre company.
